Melinda Boyd has worked as a registered dietitian since 2004. She has experience in a variety of practice areas, covering adult and pediatric nutrition. In her first clinical position, she was a staff relief dietitian and quickly learned that she enjoyed having variety in the types of patients she was seeing. Additional unique work experience includes the WIC Overseas program and serving as a civilian dietitian on an Air Force base. She has had a unique career path that she credits to her time as a military spouse. Living abroad for 9 years, she developed skills in cross cultural communication and counseling individuals from diverse backgrounds. She is a registered dietitian in both the US and UK. She completed a doctorate of clinical nutrition (DCN) from Rutgers University, a Master of Human Relations degree from The University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Public Health degree from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is currently an assistant professor at Cedar Crest College where she teaches in the graduate nutrition program, dietetic internship, and MPH program. She has been an active member of the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (IAAND), having served in the past in the roles of Secretary, President, and Country Representatives Chair. She has recently served on the Academy’s IDEA Committee. She is currently the Chair of the Cultures of Gender and Age Member Interest Group and the State Policy Representative for the South Carolina Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. |
